​​Day Hikes around Mestia
offer ways to escape the crowds and to experience some of the finest and unspoiled places. 

Prisitine environment, great views and interesting terrain will satisfy even an expert hiker.
These three routes were selected after  years of exploring mountains around Mestia and  represent the best of this area.
They are different in terms of difficulty and  require  different levels of fitness.
Apart from hiking  you will  learn  a lot about  history, culture and geography of the region.  
​Essential equipment: trail shoes (or hiking boots), small backpack, wind/waterproof jacket or poncho, sun protection (hat is absolutely essential). Trekking poles are optional but recommended.

​Woods and meadows of Zargashi    
This easy day hike offers an opportunity to visit the most beautiful and untouched areas above Mestia. 

 Great introduction to the mountains of Svaneti and an excellent option for those who want to take it easy.  Impressive  views of Ushba and Chatin-Tau will follow you all along.  Variety of scenary from the  dense vegetation of  narrow valley to spacious alpine meadows and sun-drenched pine forests.  From mid-August an abundance of blueberries will  slow you down!

​Latraldash Ridge Hike
Playground for one of the most scenic hikes in vicinity

 This hike is more demanding and requires certain endurance.    The views  of  twin peaks of  Ushba and  surrounding glaciers  are magnificent. Terrain is always diverse and for fit hiker this route is truly ideal .    

Time > 8-10 hours
Difficulty  >   more demanding hike with steeper  slopes and considerable elevation gain
Elevation   >3200m

Laguzamere Plateau Hike
   This beautiful hiking route is impressive in every respect 

This route follows the line of steep grassy ridges and mostly off-trail which   keeps it away from uninitiated. Even locals are rare visitors in this area.  Laguzamere is a grass-covered spacious plateau  open to magnificent views in all directions.
